Do not get this herb confused with Acanthopanax senticosus, also called Eleutherococcus senticosus, Eleuthero root or Siberian ginseng. Acanthopanax gracilistylus (Chinese: Wu Jia Pi) is the root bark of a related species used specifically in Chinese herbalism to treat rheumatism, but which does not have the tonic qualities of Eleuthero root. Acanthopanax gracilistylus suppresses the development of arthritis and inflammation to relieve pain and arthritic conditions. It is used as antibacterial, anti-rheumatic, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic. |
